Descriptions of AHA courses

Friends & Family CPR  1 – 2 hours

  • Audience:  General public, families, community groups, those interested in learning CPR but not needing certification.
  • Content:  Basic CPR skills for adults, children, and infants, AED use, and relief of choking.
  • Certification: Does not provide a course completion card or certification but offers a participation card.

 Heartsaver CPR AED  2 hours

  • Audience:  General public, workplaces, schools, anyone with little or no medical training.
  • Content: Basic CPR and AED use, choking relief for adults, children, and infants.
  • Certification: Provides an AHA Heartsaver CPR AED Course Completion Card upon passing skills testing.

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED  4 – 5 hours

  • Audience:  General public, workplaces, schools.
  • Content:  CPR, AED use, first aid for various emergencies (bleeding, fractures, sprains, shock).
  • Certification:  Provides an AHA Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card upon passing skills testing.

Basic Life Support (BLS)  4 hours

  • Audience: Healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, paramedics.
  • Content:  High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, AED use, team dynamics.
  • Certification:  Provides an AHA BLS Provider Course Completion Card upon passing skills testing and written exam with a score of at least 84%.

HeartCode Heartsaver or BLS 

  • Course:  Self-pace online course for flexible learning.
  • Content:  Blended learning format, includes online modules followed by hands-on skills practice and testing.
  • Certification:  Provides an AHA HeartCode Course Completion Card upon passing skills testing.

 

Each course includes hands-on practice and skills testing, ensuring participants are well-prepared to handle real-life emergencies.  The course involves physical activities, and participants must be able to preform each skill successfully.
