Arts Grant Panelist Application Form

Thank you for your interest in serving as a volunteer advisory panelist for the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department's new arts grant programs. Please review the qualifications and responsibilities below before completing the form.

Qualifications:

We are seeking individuals who:

  • Have a background in or knowledge of the arts, including but not limited to visual, performing, or literary arts.
  • Are familiar with nonprofit organizations, arts education, or community engagement through the arts.
  • Have experience in grant writing, project evaluation, or nonprofit management (preferred but not required).
  • Have the ability to work with others in a panel setting.
  • Are committed to supporting equitable access to the arts and fostering community engagement.
  • Is a Virginia Beach resident.

Panelist Responsibilities:

  • Attend an orientation and training session to understand the grant programs, scoring criteria, and responsibilities.
  • Review and score grant applications based on established criteria such as project viability, community impact, and artistic quality.
  • Participate in virtual or in-person discussions with fellow panelists to evaluate applications.
  • Commit to approximately 3 hours of work each month from December 2024 through April 2025, including training, application review, and panel discussions.

*Note: Must be a Virginia Beach resident to apply and submissions must be received by December 11, 2024.
