SYEP Youth Worker Request Form

The Virginia Beach Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a positive youth development program that partners with local businesses, agencies and organizations to provide Virginia Beach youth and young adults ages 16-21 with paid worker experience for 8 weeks of the summer (June 23 – June 6). Prior to starting their job, SYEP Participants are provided up to 20 hours of job skill, workplace readiness and financial empowerment training facilitated by Job Coaches and professionals. Throughout the 8-week program, SYEP participants will gain new experiences, new perspectives and develop future career goals.

The deadline to complete the SYEP Youth Worker Request Form is March 28.

Is a driver’s license require to complete the job duties of this position? (Note: All city employees including SYEP Participants are required by Risk Management to complete the city Defensive Driving course in the position includes driving duties.)

Is this position available to participants who are required to attend summer school and are unavailable to work Monday-Thursday 8am – 1pm.

Would you be able to provide the SYEP Participant(s) with 27 hours of work each week?

All SYEP Participants are consider part-time city staff and will receive a city badge. SYEP Staff will take care of getting all badges for SYEP Participants, BUT we will not assign specific privileges. Choose the best response to let us know the type of badge to provide your SYEP Participant.

Are you interested in assisting with youth worker interviews? Please note interviews are not scheduled based on youth worker job interest.
